NES (VST3)
Noise Emmiting Synthesizer (NES)
is an 8bit synth-chip emulator. Designed and modelled after some of the most iconic synth-chips that were used in computers and game consoles back in the early '80s.
If you pay respect to the composers and sound designers that made beautiful music for games in this era, you're definitely going to love this.
NES is filled with presets, so you can learn all sorts of cool manipulations that were used in 8bit music (such as pitch drop on a triangle oscillator to emulate a kick drum, noise depth modulation for percussion, and more...).
The challenge in this project was to make a high-quality synth and at the same time emulate the limitations that were common in this era of digital music.
Specs:
-
3 oscillators - NES comes with 3 monophonic oscillators to choose.
Noise - with the ability to control 16 points of bit depth and the option for a 'metallizer' that makes for another 16 extra sounds.
Triangle - not the common triangle oscillator that you'll find on high quality, analog synths. But a LO-FI 8bit style oscillator that was most commonly used for basslines.
(triangle can be manipulated with the pitch bend)
Pulse - A high quality, antialiased, '8bit' pulse oscillator with the option of controlling the pulse-width in 3 fixed positions. This was commonly used for lead and mono harmony techniques (like a fast arpeggiator).
ADSR Envelope - a global envelope for the entire synth.
*Plugin format is VST3 only and supported by both windows and mac
**If you're not sure about compatibility with your computer, please try the free 'bass drum' plugin before you buy.
